Frequently Asked Questions
- How far will I be from downtown? The Fisherman's Quay is considerd "down town". If you want to walk to the "main drag" as they call Lincon Street, which is where the souvinir shops and several popular historical sites are, is about a quarter mile away.
- Are Fisherman's Quay lodging units upstairs or downstairs? We have one unit, "The Loft," which is upstairs. The Bunkhouse North and South are both at street level.
- What type of amenities are provided? All Fisherman's Quay units are fully-furnished with all bed and bath linens and a fully-equipped kitchen. The come with cable tv and wireless internet and all utilities, electric and heat are provided.
- Is the Fisherman's Quay a SAFE part of town? Yes, Sitka has a very low crime rate and breakins are rare.
- How long can I stay? Fisherman's Quay Lodging is available daily, weekly or extended stay (monthly). Special discounts may be available, depending on the length of your stay.
- What time can I check-in? Check-in is normally 3pm, but if the unit is cleaned and ready, we don't mind you going in early. Late check-outs are available if we do not have arriving guests.
- Are the Units Smoking or Non Smoking? All Fisherman's Quay units are non smoking as well as the dock and buildings. Smokers must go out to the street.
- Are pets welcome? Not normally, but call to inquire. If they are allowed there will be an extra cost.
- Will I be able to cook at my rental? Yes, Absolutely! Your kitchen will be fully-equipped with all the extras that you'd have in a home kitchen.
- Where's the closest restaurant? Right next door to us the Fish-In/Fly-in, and "Ludvigs", one of Sitka's most popular restuarants, is about a minute's walk away. There's many others, all within 15-20 minutes at max. Sitkans LOVE to eat!
- Where can I get my fishing license? Murray Pacific, right next door has licenses, as well as most anything else you might need to go fishing, hiking and camping. They are Sitka's larges fishing supply store!
- Where can I get a charter? We know of several good captains that we can refer you to, see our "Sitka Links" page, or just do a search for "Sitka Charter Captains and you'll come up with many to choose from.
- Are there closeby trails to hike? Sitka has many incredible trails to hike, several of them starting right downtown. The US Forest Service has a small booklet that catalogs these trails and is available at their office on Siganak Way, or the Forest Service as well as Sitka Trail Works, a local nonprofit that has a website with trail info. They maintain many of our trails and do an incredible job of securing grants and other funds to develop them for the public. A link to their website is available on out "Things to Do in Sitka" page. If you don't have transport to get to sites that are out the road a bit, the city has a bus that runs Monday-Friday, 6:30 am unti 6:30 pm with many stops that are near trailheads.
- Does Sitka have a city bus? Yes, it runs Monday thru Friday (at this publishing) about every hour. Information for it can be found at: http://publictransit.sitkatribe.org/
